Florida’s Murphy Act Lands
This course will familiarize the surveyor and mapper with the Murphy Act and other laws and rules that apply to said lands which are held by the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida. The Murphy Act was passed in 1937, and certain reservations were made part of the deeds to these lands in order to recover some of the lost revenue of the collapsed land boom of the late 1920s and the Great Depression of the 1930s. Murphy Act lands and deeds still exist today and as a surveyor and mapper, you need to be knowledgeable of their potential impact on your final product.
